This movie was way too generic. It also showed how much power The Rock was starting to develop in Hollywood. There were also cameos that stuck out like a sore thumb. They were fun cameos but sidetracked the movie. The plot is a basic countdown for a virus to kill someone. I also found the midpoint scene felt too much like the climax and I was lowkey sad to see over an hour left in the movie. I thought the pace was going fast but apparently not. I think Jason Statham is an underappreciated action star. He has star power but you don’t remember he exists until he pops up in the movie. Idris Elba was a pretty solid villain and you felt some sympathy for him being a robocop. The director did movies like Bullet Train and Deadpool 2 so it had some of those signature quick beats and utilized humor. I personally didn’t like this film, but if you want a mindless action movie that is a slightly smaller scale than its mother franchise, check it out.
