Spiral (2021)

They definitely wanted to try something this time around. The story came across as more of a cop thriller than what these movies usually are. It was basically a generic thriller with a Saw skin in a way. Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson definitely helped give this a boost in credibility. They had their usual jokey chops mixed with serious drama. They used the improved cast quality to make a bit more of an engaging set of characters. Everything does end up about how you expect. This is definitely a stand-alone picture. Plays to the good ole theme of cops being selfish and corrupt. It is a decent movie but could have used a bit more imagination for the plot.
