The Meg (2018)

Is this a knock-off of Jaws? Yes. Does it matter? Nah. This movie is based on a book that was genuinely inspired by the Jaws films and even spawned a whole series of books. We are here for the shark carnage and this film very much delivers on that. The dialogue is cliche as hell and sounds straight out of an 80s action movie. All their characters were interesting enough but the little girl and her mom were the only ones that I would be emotionally wrecked if they died…well, the doggo, too. The beach scene was probably the most intense purely because it was a busy beach that would already give me a panic attack without a shark nearby. There is plenty of shark murder action so if you are feeling up to that kind of movie, this is for you.
