Annabelle (2014)

This was simply not very good. It had a few exciting scenes but it just felt bland and boring. The atmosphere-to-jumpscare ratio was skewed too far to the jumpscare side. Jump scares are a tool, not a crutch. The characters weren’t super interesting. I would have preferred Annabelle to have a mix of Chucky with mind-game powers thrown in. I just couldn’t get into this one. I had to drag myself to the end. On paper, this isn’t a bad movie. It was just executed like a slow-burn indie horror game. I was disappointed overall.
