Time for the requel. While there are several elements that make this movie a sequel, it is setting up a new cast going forward. It also does what Hollywood has been leaning on as of late and that is nostalgia. There is a heavy emphasis on the legacy characters returning and they even returned to the house where it all started. It feels like a natural progression with the times. Still annoying that people with guns always try to shoot from point blank because they have horrible aim from more than 10 feet away. It does at least feel like a fresh retelling of the franchise. The new cast is fantastic, but the dude from 13 Reasons Why was lowkey a distraction…and not just because of the blond streaks. The rest of the cast is the slightly smarter side of Gen Z. It was also brave of the movie to kill a couple of legacy characters. I won’t say who because of spoilers but no one is safe. The pacing in the newer Scream movies is so much better. This is a fun time, but if you know the rules and how these movies play out, then you’ll see the reveals coming. There were even a couple of foreshadowing moments that were pretty clever. The franchise seems like it wants to use this film as a launching point for more sequels. So this would be a good point to hop on if you want to skip the 90s-ness.

60%-69% = only watch for completionist reasons
0%-59% = just skip it, I find the positives and they don't exist here
