This movie was written and directed by Wes Craven, most people know him for Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream. That being said, I expected it to be a little more on the horror side rather than soldiers hunting down a monster. The movie as a whole was a fun enough watch and felt very 80s action throughout. The prosthetics were campy and don’t age well but practical effects at least have a tangibility to them. This is not a must-watch, but if you like campy 80s monster action, then give it a watch. There exist 2 versions of this movie: The US version and the international version. The main difference apparently is nudity. Doesn’t do much for the story but it allowed the US version to get a PG rating while international viewers got to see a few nude scenes. The more you know!
